Gas Prices Continue to Surge in Canada
Average National Price Reaches Highest Point Since August 2022
Ontario Hit Hardest by Recent Increases
According to data released by GasBuddy on Monday, average gas prices across Canada have risen significantly in March. Toronto has seen some of the steepest increases, with the current price per liter of gasoline hitting around 179 cents. This marks the most expensive gas price in Ontario since August 2022.
The surge in gas prices is largely due to a recent attack on Israel, which has caused oil prices to surge by 4%. The average national price for gasoline in Canada is now CAD 191 per liter or USD 140 per liter, which is significantly higher than the global average of USD 126 per liter.
The rising gas prices are putting a strain on Canadian consumers and businesses. Many people are struggling to afford the cost of filling up their vehicles, and businesses are facing higher transportation costs.
The government has acknowledged the impact of the rising gas prices and is considering measures to provide relief to consumers and businesses. However, it is unclear when or if these measures will be implemented.
In the meantime, Canadians are being advised to conserve fuel and seek out lower gas prices by using apps like GasBuddy to find the best deals.
