Celtics dominant as they take Game 1 of the NBA Finals
The Boston Celtics took a commanding 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, routing the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 at the TD Garden. Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 29 points, while Jaylen Brown added 24 points and Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 26 points, but he was limited to just 6-of-18 shooting from the field. The Celtics were dominant from start to finish, leading by as many as 26 points in the second half. They shot 50.6% from the field and hit 13-of-33 from three-point range. The Mavericks, meanwhile, shot just 36.2% from the field and made only 7-of-32 from three-point range. The Celtics also dominated the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Mavericks 52-36. Porzingis was a major factor on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds, including four offensive rebounds. The Mavericks will now need to regroup and find a way to bounce back in Game 2. They will need to find a way to slow down the Celtics' offense and get more production from their role players. The Celtics, on the other hand, will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. They will need to continue to play with the same intensity and focus that they showed in Game 1. Game 2 of the NBA Finals will be played on Thursday night at the TD Garden.
