James David "JD" Vance (born James Donald Bowman on August 2, 1984) is a politician, author, and venture capitalist. Born in Middletown, Ohio, Vance is best known for his bestselling memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy" (2016), which chronicled his experiences growing up in a struggling Appalachian community.
Political Career
Vance entered politics in support of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election. In 2022, he was elected to the U.S. Senate representing Ohio and took office in January 2023. As a Senator, Vance is a prominent member of the Republican Party and has been a vocal critic of President Joe Biden's policies.
