Jets Place Jermaine Johnson on Injured Reserve, Sign DL Jalyn Holmes

New York Jets Begin Week 9 with Roster Moves

The New York Jets have placed outside linebacker Jermaine Johnson on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday. Johnson suffered a calf injury in the Jets' Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots.

To fill Johnson's roster spot, the Jets signed defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes from the practice squad.

Johnson, a first-round pick by the Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft, has played in seven games this season and has recorded 23 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Holmes, a fourth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2018 NFL Draft, has played in 55 career games with 14 starts. He has recorded 82 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Jets Face Packers in Week 9

With Johnson on injured reserve, the Jets will likely turn to Bryce Huff or Quincy Williams to start opposite Jacob Martin at outside linebacker.

The Jets will face the Green Bay Packers on the road in Week 9. The Packers are 3-5 on the season and are coming off a 27-22 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak and improve to 5-4 on the season. A win over the Packers would keep the Jets in the AFC playoff race.
